Nicola's future projects...

"Even before Tea and Transition came out I realized there was so much more of a story left to tell, and that the book would be a stepping stone to something else. 

"I have since written a film screenplay provisionally titled PHOENIX (ON THE FLIPSIDE), and developed a TV documentary looking at attitudes to being transgender as viewed across the United States, called TRANS ACROSS AMERICA. Both of these projects were set to happen but then stumbled at various hurdles as the media couldn't be enticed to tell LGBTQ+ stories away from the usual tropes. 

"Relocating back to the UK from New York in 2018 had also sapped my creative strength as I focused on the more practical matters of renovating a 16th century home on the Welsh marches and trying to cope with the death of my Mum who had passed away in September 2019. For those who have read Tea and Transition you will recall what a rock she had been to be through my changes. The subsequent COVID pandemic had also thrown everything into disarray. 

"At the start of 2024 my energy has been directed at developing a multi-part TV / streaming dramedy titled HONESTLY, DONNA which I am particularly enthusiastic about. As this project develops, I am looking for the right fit of producer or other seasoned writer to work with to take this project to the next level, ideally based around New York. Please watch this space!"
